1.9 FAQ-119 How to draw gridlines on top of data, or prevent fill area covering the ticks?

Last Update: 1/8/2019

Users often wonder why enabling Fill Area Under Curve covers up axis ticks, or how to place gridlines behind or in front of, data symbols. By default, Origin draws data in front of axes and gridlines.

  • To bring graph axes forward (drawn on top of data), right-click on the affected graph axis and clear the check mark next to Data on Top of Axes.
  • To bring gridlines forward (drawn on top of data), right-click on the graph axis and place a check mark next to Grid on Top of Data.

Note that these controls are duplicated on the Display/Speed tab of Plot Details.
