To plot economics data, you might need to add vertical bars at the periods of recession as below:

There are two methods to add such recession bars on a 2D graph:

• Add vertical bars spanning between missing values using the option Fill Area Under Curve in the Line tab of Plot Details dialog.

• Alternate fill the area between reference lines using the Alternate Fill options in the Reference Lines tab of Axis dialog.
