Last Update: 8/18/2025
If your Origin runs slowly in a virtual machine on a Mac, please consider following solutions to improve the performance
Adjust the configuration of VM
You can consider adjusting the configuration of the virtual machine according to the recommended system requirements of the Windows OS (Vista/7/8/10/11)
Especially, please make sure the virtual machine (VM) is assigned enough CPU cores and memory to handle the workload.
Install Virtual Machine Tools
Consider installing virtual machine tools, like VMware tools, Parallels tools to enhance the performance.
As well, your virtual machine software vendor may provide options to improve VM performance. Please consult your vendor's documentation to determine which settings can help improve performance
Disable updates or scans which consuming excessive resources
Check if a guest operating system is running update checks or on-disk virus/threat scans. If yes, consider temporarily disabling them.
Using Boot Camp
Please consider installing and running Windows via Boot Camp. This enables you to run Windows at native speed, i.e. Windows applications can fully take advantage of the Mac hardware.
Note: If you find that Origin is beginning to run slowly while running in Windows in a virtual machine on a Mac, try to completely shut down Windows (not merely suspend it). Then restart Windows and check Origin's performance.
