15.3.4.4 The Fitting Function Builder


The Fitting Function Builder provides a user-friendly wizard to guide you through the steps of creating or editing a fitting function.

Each page of the wizard contains two panels. The left panel offers relevant hints and examples. The right panel offers options for customizing your user-defined function. Click the Ffb wrap.png or Ffb unwrap.png button to hide or show the left panel.


There are several ways to open the Fitting Function Builder:


Note that while you can create and edit functions with the Fitting Function Organizer, the Builder's wizard interface makes it much easier. When using the Fitting Function Builder, you can set options in all wizard pages, or skip pages and leave defaults.

NOTE:
  • If you want to define a peak function to use in Peak Analyzer, you must put the peak function in PFW category.
  • If you want to define a function to fit your baseline ( OriginPro ) in Peak Analyzer, you must put the user-defined function into the Baseline category.
  • If you want to define a peak function available in Quick Peaks Gadget or Multiple Peak Fit tool, the user-defined peak function needs to be moved to the Peak Functions category.
  • If you want to define an implicit fitting function to be used in implicit curve fit, you must put the user-defined function into the Implicit category.
  • If you want to define a surface fitting function to be used in 2D surface fit, you must put the user-defined function into the Surface Fitting category.
  • If your function isn't defined in the above categories, you can go to Tools: Fitting Function Organizer. Move or share your functions to the above categories.
