9.6.4 The (Plot Details) Lines Tab

The Lines tab provides controls for customizing the whisker(vertical+cap) lines, the median line, the mean line and distribution curve that display at Box Chart.

Whisker

When the Style ,Width and Color options are set to Auto, the whisker line format will match the box border.
The whisker cap line can be formatted independently. When options (Style, Width and Color) of cap line are set to Auto, the cap will match the whisker.

Style Select the style for the whisker (vertical+cap) lines from this drop-down list.

Note: If Caps Style is set to Auto, Style will apply to caps.

Width Select or type the width for the whisker (vertical+cap) lines in this combination box. The line width is measured in points, where 1 point=1/72 inch.

Note: If Caps Width is set to Auto, Width will apply to caps.

Color Specify the whisker (vertical+cap) lines color.

Note: If Caps Color is set to Auto, Color will apply to caps.

Caps Length Select or type the length for the caps line in this combination box. The caps length is a percent of the box width value.
Caps Style Select the cap line style from this drop-down list.
Caps Width Select or type cap line width in this combination box. The caps width is measured in points, where 1 point=1/72 inch.
Caps Color Specify cap line color from this drop-down list.

Median Line

This box controls display of the median line in the graph.

When the following options are set to Auto, the median line format will match the box border.

Style Select the median line style from this drop-down list.
Width Select or type the median line width in this combination box. The line width is measured in points, where 1 point=1/72 inch.
Color Specify the median line color from this drop-down list.

Mean Line

This checkbox controls display of the mean line in the graph.

When the following options set to Auto, the mean line format will match the box border.

Style Select the mean line style from this drop-down list.
Width Select or type the mean line width in this combination box. The line width is measured in points, where 1 point=1/72 inch.
Color Specify the mean line color from this drop-down list.

Distribution Curve

These options are available when the distribution curve is selected from the Type drop-down list under Distribution Curve in Data tab.

When the following options are set to Auto, the distribution curve line format will match the box border.

Style Select the distribution curve line style from this drop-down list.
Width Select or type the distribution curve width in this combination box. The line width is measured in points, where 1 point=1/72 inch.
Color Specify the distribution curve color from this drop-down list.

Note: When Symbol Color (on the Symbol tab) is set to Automatic, symbol color will match the distribution curve color setting.

Extended Line

These controls enable the mean or median line to be extended out the box. It can be set to create this kind of box chart, Customizing the Box Chart Line Tab Controls 02.png.

Extended Line Specify to extend the Mean, Median or both to be out of the box
Extra Length(%) Select or type the extra width of the line for each side. The value is measured in percent of the current box width.

Transparency

This controls line transparency. Move the slider or type a desired integer, from 0 to 100, in the combination box. Note that 0 is fully opaque; 100 is fully transparent.
