Description:

PURPOSE
This app can be used to calculate bins of torsional angles for each group and create a polar contour for them.

INSTALLATION
Download the file Torsional_Angle_Wheel_Plot.opx, and then drag-and-drop onto the Origin workspace. An icon will appear in the Apps Gallery window.
NOTE: This tool requires OriginPro.

OPERATION

  • Make a worksheet for angles data active. Click on the Torsional Angle Wheel Plot icon in the Apps Gallery window. A dialog will open.
  • In the opened dialog, select angles data. Set a value for Number of Bins for Angles. It will divide the interval 0-360 degrees into evenly spaced intervals. If you want to display data points, check Show Individual Data Points check box. Show Center Radial Grids checkbox can determine whether to show radial grids around the center of the polar plot.
  • Click OK button. A graph will be created. Plot data is in the created MBook. And radial axis major labels are listed in a new column in the input worksheet by default.

SAMPLE OPJU FILE
This app provides a sample OPJU file. Right click on the Torsional Angle Wheel Plot icon in the Apps Gallery window, and choose Show Samples Folder from the short-cut menu. A folder will open. Drag-and-drop the project file TAWPlotEx.opju from the folder onto Origin. The Notes window in the project shows detailed steps.
Note: If you wish to save the OPJU after changing, it is recommended that you save to a different folder location (e.g. User Files Folder).

ALGORITHM
Bins of angles are calculated as follows:

  • Remove missing values in data and correct angles to the interval 0-360.
  • Count angles in each bin interval for each group and divide it by the size of each group.

Updates:

v1.11 7/4/2024 Fixed bin center issue.
v1.1 7/2/2024 Supported to show individual data points.
