Import STL file, create surface, and export data to STL file.

Purpose

This app allows you to import and export 3D models in STL file format.

Installation

Download Import and Export SLT.opx file, then drag and drop it onto the Origin workspace.

Basic Usage

Import STL

1. Activate a worksheet.

2. Click the Import STL button.

3. In the file browser that appears, select an STL file and click OK.

4. If the Show Surface checkbox is enabled, Origin will automatically generate a 3D surface plot from the imported data.

Plot STL Surface

1. Click the Plot STL Surface button.

2. From the imported data, select the corresponding columns for:

   • Facet Normals

   • Vertex 1

   • Vertex 2

   • Vertex 3

3. Click OK to create a 3D surface plot.

Export STL

1. With a 3D XYZ surface plot active, click the Export STL button.

2. In the file browser, specify the file name and location.

3. Click OK to export the surface plot as an STL file.
