Installing Origin/OriginPro 2024
Information for All Packages
- Help files are included in the product, and also available online and as PDF files from our Documentation and Help Center.
- If you have Maintenance, your version 2024 Serial Number is the same as the previous version.
- If you received a physical version 2024 package, your Serial Number is located on the back of the Version 2024 DVD sleeve.
- If you have purchased a Node-locked license and have the Version 2024 trial already installed, you can update the trial copy to a full product: Select Help: Convert Trial to Product and enter your Product Key in the License Activation dialog that opens.

Maintenance Renewal Customers - Auto-upgrading to Origin/OriginPro 2024
Customers NOT Upgrading an Existing Installation (New Installation)
If you have Maintenance, you are automatically eligible for an upgrade to Origin 2024. To determine whether you have Maintenance, select Help: About Origin and look for your Maintenance Expiration date. If your Maintenance has expired, please contact OriginLab or your local Origin distributor to see if you might qualify for an automatic upgrade to Version 2024.
NOTE: Origin/OriginPro 2024 is only available for 64-bit systems. If you need to install on 32-bit, please contact us to request link for 2019b.
Note: Starting from version 2018, Origin license is cross version. You can continue to manage your Serial Number and Product Key(s) by going to this web page: https://www.originlab.com/restricted/reg_sn.aspx and clicking on your Serial Number.
If you are installing 2024 on the same computer where Origin 2018 or later is installed:
- Download the 2024 installer from: https://www.originlab.com/myOriginDownload
- Install Origin 2024. The installed Serial Number is auto-used by Origin2024 installation.
- Launch Origin 2024. Your software is automatically activated.
If you are installing 2024 on a different computer (not where Origin 2018 or later is installed):
- Go to this web page: https://www.originlab.com/restricted/reg_sn.aspx and click on your Serial Number to view your existing Product Keys.
- Copy-paste an available Product Key from the web page to the license dialog.
- Click the Activate button to finish the license activation.
NOTE:If no Product Key is available, you will need to deactivate your license from the previous computer. Run Origin(Pro) on the previous computer and use the Help: Deactivate License... menu item.
IF YOU ARE THE ADMINISTRATOR
Note: From version 2018, Origin license is cross version. You do not need to do anything for version 2024. You can continue to manage your Serial Number and Product Key(s) as before.
- Go to this web page: https://www.originlab.com/restricted/reg_sn.aspx and click on your Serial Number to view your existing Product Keys and your list of end-users.
Admins: If you need to reclaim Product Keys in order to assign them to new users, you can do so from your Origin Product Registration | License Administration dashboard. If you encounter problems or have questions, please contact us.
IF YOU ARE THE END USER
NOTE: END USERS PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR ORIGIN ADMINISTRATOR BEFORE UPGRADING IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS!
If you are installing 2024 on the same computer where Origin 2018 or later is installed
- Download the 2024 installer from: https://www.originlab.com/myOriginDownload.
- Install Origin 2024. The installed Serial Number is auto-used by Origin2024 installation.
- Launch Origin 2024. Your software is automatically activated.
If you are installing 2024 on a different computer (not where Origin 2018 or later is installed)::
- Run Origin 2018 or later version on the previous computer and from the menu, choose Help: Activate License. In the License Activation dialog that opens, write down the Product Key or copy and save it to a .txt file.
- Choose Help: Deactivate License and Deactivate Now.
- When you've installed the software (download link above), run Origin 2024, choose Help: Activate License and enter or paste your Product Key into the dialog and click Activate.
End Users: If your previous computer is not available and no Product Key is available to you here, please contact your Origin Administrator.
- Go to the page Additional Information for Concurrent Licenses and follow the instructions under the heading "If you are upgrading a Concurrent Network package."
- Download the software from www.originlab.com/myOriginDownload.
- Install the software using the Serial Number of your previous version.
Your Serial Number has one of the following formats:
- xFxxx-60xx-70xxxxx
- xFxxx-60xx-71xxxxx
- xFxxx-60xx-72xxxxx
- xFxxx-60xx-73xxxxx
Getting Started
Your package allows you to run Origin on one computer (such as your office computer). Some license plans include a Home-use license as a benefit of a Maintenance plan.
When you start Origin, a License Activation dialog prompts you for a Product Key. The Product Key is obtained from the OriginLab website. Internet access is required only for licensing process. If the computer does not have internet access, you can obtain the license from a different computer with access.

Before providing your Origin package to those who plan to run Origin, you must register your Serial Number and generate Product Keys.

When you distribute Version 2024 to your users, in addition to providing them with the installer and the Serial Number, you must also provide the Product Key request URL as the Product Key is required during license activation. Also, please let users know that when they log on to the OriginLab website during when require a Product Key, their account must contain information associated with your organization (due to the license access restrictions you establish).

Origin Administrator, Getting Started
The Concurrent Network package entitles you to install or deploy Origin on any number of computers in your organization. Each of these computers must have a connection to a machine (workstation or server) on which you must install a FLEXnet server (provided by OriginLab) and set up a FLEXnet service for license management. If you are already using FLEXnet license management for another software vendor, then you can use your existing FLEXnet server to set up a service for managing your Origin, as long as the operating system and FLEXnet version is supported by OriginLab.

If you have purchased a new dongle:
Please review the instructions provided in your dongle packet or our online dongle documentation.
If you have a dongle for Origin 2019 or later and you have renewed Maintenance:
- Download the 2024 installer from: https://www.originlab.com/myOriginDownload
- Install Origin 2024 with the dongle Serial Number.
- Plug in the dongle to the USB port.
- Launch Origin 2024. If the Update Dongle dialog opens, please continue the following steps to update your dongle.
- Take a note of the Dongle ID at the top of the dialog.
- Contact OriginLab or your distributor. Provide your Serial Number and Dongle ID. You will receive a 16 character Dongle Product Key.
- Start Origin again. Enter the product key in the Update Dongle dialog and click Update to finish the dongle license activation. Now your dongle is updated for Origin 2024.
